Clindamycin Hydrochloride Oral Liquid (Clindamycin) are indicated for the treatment of dental infections, abscesses and deep infected wounds or soft tissue infections. Vets have also used it to treat dogs affected by osteomyelitis. Susceptible bacteria include staphylococcus aureus, staphylococcus intermedius, fusobacterium necrophorum, clostridium perfringens, streptococcus spp. and various others.
This medicine is classified as a synthetic lincosamide antibiotic and is considered to have a broad spectrum of activity against many microorganisms responsible for causing infections. It attaches to the 50S sub-unit of what is known as the ribosome (cell organelles made up of RNA and proteins which are responsible for producing protein). This in turn blocks the bacterial cells from synthesizing protein, and prevents the bacteria from further growth.
Clindamycin Hydrochloride Oral Liquid (Clindamycin) are designed to be palatable, making them easy to administer to the majority of pets. Veterinarians may recommend owners of dogs affected by abscesses or dental infections to administer 2.5mg to 15mg per lb of body weight every 12 hours, with treatment lasting for as long as 28 days. The dosage for being treated for these conditions may differ, and it is possible that the veterinarian will direct cat owners to administer 5mg to 15mg per lb of body weight, given once every 24 hours with treatment lasting for as long as 14 days. In all cases, the veterinarian will calculate the required dosage and pet owners will be required to comply with all instructions provided by the veterinarian.
You should observe your pet while it is being treated with Clindamycin Hydrochloride Oral Liquid (Clindamycin) so that its health can be monitored. Side effects which may occur include diarrhea and vomiting. If your animal appears to be suffering from side effects, take it to the veterinarian.
Clindamycin Hydrochloride Oral Liquid (Clindamycin) are only for use in pets and are not to be administered to or taken by humans.

Generally, veterinarians only recommend using these antibiotic drops to treat cats and dogs, as they may not be suitable for other types of pets.
