Antirobe (Clindamycin Hydrochloride) is an antibiotic which is used to treat infections in dogs and cats caused by bacteria. Vets widely prescribe it for treating skin infections, wounds and abscesses which have become infected with various different types of bacteria. In addition to this, it is also used to treat bacterial dental infections and osteomyelitis. This medicine works by fighting the bacteria responsible for causing the infection.
Antirobe (Clindamycin Hydrochloride) comes as capsules, which are administered orally. Owners may feed the capsule directly to their pet. However, if necessary, the owner may also place the capsule in its food. The general guideline for dosage is 2.5mg to 15mg per pound (454g) of body weight given every 12 hours. These are just guidelines, and owners must take their animal to a vet to find out the right dosage. The prescribing vet will tell you how many tablets to administer, and how often. Dosage is normally every 12 hours, and treatment usually lasts for 28 days.
Antirobe (Clindamycin Hydrochloride) does cause mild side effects in some animals, such as diarrhoea or vomiting. If your animal shows signs of side effects, you need to take it to see a vet.
Only use this medicine to treat your pet if a vet has prescribed it for this use.
This medicine is for veterinary use only, and should never be used by humans.
