Lixen

Lixen (Cephalexin) is an oral cephalosporin antibiotic prescribed to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections in animals. The medication operates by disrupting cell wall maintenance to destroy sensitive bacteria while preventing reproduction to stop the spread of infection allowing the immune system to destroy it naturally. This action makes it useful for treating conditions such as infections affecting the gums, joints, bones, respiratory tract, soft tissues, skin, urinary tract, or the ear (otitis media). Your veterinarian may also prescribe it to be used along with other medicines or to treat other unlisted conditions.

Follow your veterinarian`s instructions for using Lixen (Cephalexin) to ensure the correct results. It is normally taken once or twice each day at the indicated dosage, but the animal`s instructions will be based on its weight, health condition, symptoms, and response to other treatments. When administering the tablets, make sure they are swallowed whole and unaltered along with water. The doses can be taken on an empty stomach, but a snack or meal is recommended if nausea occurs. Lixen (Cephalexin) should not be used by animals that are allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics, have had a bad reaction to similar treatments, or have had a sudden allergic reaction to penicillin medications.
