Spectacef Injection (Ceftriaxone) is an antibiotic prescribed to treat bacterial infections such as meningitis and gonorrhea, as well as infections of the abdomen, ears, lungs, skin, blood, urinary tract, bones, and joints. It may also be used to protect against infection in certain situations, including before surgery. It belongs to the cephalosporin class of drugs.
Spectacef Injection (Ceftriaxone) is usually administered by your physician or nurse in a clinic or health center. Depending on the course of medication you require, you may be trained to administer the medication yourself from home.
It is administered via injection either intramuscularly or intravenously. It might be prescribed as a single dose, or as a course of medication lasting up to two weeks.
If administering yourself, always check the solution for any discoloration or foreign particles. If you can see either, discard the liquid and use new solution free of discoloration or particles.
As with all antibiotics you must always finish the full course of medication prescribed, even if symptoms have disappeared and/or you are feeling better. Bacteria will return stronger when it has not been killed off entirely.
Keep your physician informed of any side effects which you experience while taking Spectacef Injection (Ceftriaxone). Possible side effects may include:
