Pantoprazole Actavis (Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate) is a proton pump inhibitor. It is used to reduce the amount of acid secreted in the stomach. It is indicated for use in patients with acid refulx (reflux disease), stomach and dudenal ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate works by reducing the amount of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. It inhibits the proton pumps in the parietal cells that are responsible for the production of hydrochloric acid.
Pantoprazole Actavis comes as a tablet that needs to be swallowed whole with a glass of water. It should be take an hour before eating a meal.

The most common side effects of Pantoprazole Actavis are headache and gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, stomach pain, excessing gas, vomiting or diarrhea. These are usually mild and temporary. Contact your doctor if the persist or become a worry to you.

Do not take Pantoprazole Actavis if you are allergic to pantoprazole or any other similar medicines, or if you are allergic to any of the excipients in these tablets (sodium carbonate, anhydrous, mannitol, sodium starch glycollate (Type A), methacrylic acid, copolymer, calcium stearate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide, purified talc, macrogol 400, sodium lauryl sulfate and Kollicoat MAE 30 DP dark yellow).
Do not take Pantoprazole Actavis of you have cirrhosis of the liver or severe liver disease.
