PanaKare Plus Powder is used for replacement therapy in dogs or cats affected by exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. It contains a pancreatic enzyme concentrate and a combination of vitamins (A, D3 and E). Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) occurs due to insufficient production of digestive enzymes in the pancreas gland. These enzymes are needed for the body to properly digest proteins, starches and fats. Pets affected by EPI could suffer from malnutrition, weight loss and persistent diarrhea.
Veterinarians often conduct a variety of tests on animals suspected to be suffering from this condition, including analyses of urine. Upon diagnosis, treatment generally consists of administering pancreatic enzymes (lipase, protease and amylase) to the animal in the form of a supplement. This helps to supplement the levels of pancreatic enzymes and treat the symptoms of EPI. Animals affected by this condition may also suffer from lower than normal levels of vitamins A, D3 and E, however these vitamins are contained in the supplement so as to correct this deficiency.
PanaKare Plus Powder should be given to the animal alongside every meal. The supplement is provided as a powder which is to be mixed into the food. Owners may add it to either canned or dry food, however the food should be moistened prior to mixing. Leave the food to stand at room temperature for roughly 15 to 20 minutes after you mix it. The dosage may differ slightly, depending on the severity of symptoms.
In all cases, deciding on the right dosage will be the responsibility of the veterinarian, who will take numerous factors into consideration, including the severity of symptoms. Dog owners may be directed to administer between 3/4 and 1 teaspoon of powder to their animal with each meal, whereas owners of cats may be told to give their pet between 1/4 and 3/4 of a teaspoon to their pet per meal. Always follow the instructions provided by the veterinarian.
Keep a close eye on your pet while it is being treated with PanaKare Plus Powder for its condition. Some animals may experience oral mucosal irritation. If your pet shows signs of sickness or side effects, bring it to the veterinarian.
PanaKare Plus Powder is for veterinary use only. It must never be consumed by humans.
Treatment may be discontinued by the veterinarian in pets that exhibit symptoms of hypersensitivity.
When your pet`s symptoms appear to improve, the veterinarian may decrease the daily dosage.
