Mirtaz

Mirtaz (Mirtazapine) is an antidepressant which works by increasing the activity of serotonin and noradrenaline in the brain. This helps to stabilize the mental balance, and because these chemicals can improve the mood, it may help to relieve depression. Researchers have also noted that it functions as a histamine receptor antagonist, which may contribute to sedative effects. Patients have sometimes taken it for anxiety disorders, panic disorder, as an appetite stimulant, to treat migraine and for the relief of itching. It has also been studied for Parkinson`s disease by prominent medical researchers.

Mirtaz (Mirtazapine) is available as either 15mg or 30mg strength film coated tablets. Patients will be provided with dosing instructions by their physician, and this will include information regarding the frequency of administration and the recommended daily dosage. Physicians providing medical treatment to patients affected by major depressive disorder sometimes direct their patients to take 15mg per day, taken at bedtime. If needed, the physician may decide to adjust this for maintenance treatment. However, this is not required in all cases.

Patients being treated with the antidepressant Mirtaz (Mirtazapine) could be affected by side effects caused by the medicine. Inform your physician if this happens. Some examples are listed here:

• Sleepy and drowsy feeling
• A visible increase in appetite

The most frequently occurring reactions are generally of a mild nature. You must present yourself at the emergency room or see a physician immediately if you suffer from muscular rigidity, fever, shaking which you are not able to exercise control over, hallucinations, seizures or any other serious reactions that have not been referenced in this paragraph.

Mirtaz (Mirtazapine) can cause somnolence and vertigo, which has the potential to impair your performance when carrying out tasks. Driving or partaking in any activities which require vigilance and concentration must be avoided if you feel that it is not safe to do so.
