Hifenac

Hifenac (Aceclofenac) exhibits anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and is widely used for rheumatoid arthritis. It is classified as an NSAID. Other indications for this medicine include ankylosing spondylitis, lumbago, ischiadynia and related disorders. The therapeutic effects of this medicine are achieved by means of prostaglandin synthesis inhibition. These prostaglandins are lipid compounds which act as inflammatory mediators of pain. Blocking their production helps to relieve pain and swelling.

Hifenac (Aceclofenac) comes in tablet form, each of which contains 100mg of the main active ingredient. Your physician will calculate the dosage and tailor it to your own individual treatment requirements. Adults are sometimes told by their physician to take 200mg per day, as 2 separate doses (100mg in the morning and another in the evening, 12 hours after the first one). Do not administer more than your physician directs you to take.

Use of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug Hifenac (Aceclofenac) for arthritis or other conditions might result in you suffering from some side effects. Consult your physician if this happens. Some possible side effects can include:

• Vertigo
• Diarrhea
• Dyspepsia and flatulence
• Soreness affecting the abdomen
• An increase in the amount of liver enzymes in the blood

Some of the side effects caused by this medication are dangerous and could have a serious impact on your health (however, this is generally a less common occurrence). Examples of this can include weight gain, cramps in the legs, fluid retention and other potentially serious side effects that have not been listed here.

Hifenac (Aceclofenac) is not suitable for patients suffering from peptic ulcers, bleeding of the stomach and certain other medical conditions. Ensure that you talk about this with your physician before starting treatment.

Your physician will recommend use of the lowest possible amount of medicine that will produce effective results, and treatment will only be continued for as long as your physician deems necessary.
