Duolin

Duolin (Salbutamol/Ipratropium Bromide) and Duolin Inhaler (Ipratropium Bromide/Levosalbutamol) combines 2 medicines with bronchodilative effects. They are used to treat reversible bronchospasms in patients suffering from asthma or other obstructive airway conditions, such as asthma, emphysema and brohchitis. Salbutamol (also known by its USAN albuterol) is classified as a beta 2 adrenergic receptor agonist and it works directly on the airways where it targets the smooth muscle and relaxes them. This opens up the airways. Ipratropium bromide is a type of anticholinergic medicine which works by inhibiting the muscarinic receptors in the lungs, and prevents a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine from narrowing the airways. Combining these 2 ingredients can result in improved bronchodilation compared to using just 1 of them, and physicians often recommend the use of this combination when more than 1 bronchodilator is needed.

Duolin is available as 2 different strength formulations, and you will need to use the formulation which your physician deems most suitable for your condition. The required daily amount of actuations or sprays will vary based on individual circumstances, including the severity of symptoms and the medical history of the patient. In all cases, the physician providing treatment will inform the patient how many times it is to be administered each day. The inhaler contains enough medicine to administer 200 metered doses. You are advised to keep track of how much medicine has been used, and to properly dispose of the inhaler when all of the medicine has been fully used.

If you are using Duolin inhaler, the occurrence of side effects is possible. Ensure that your physician is made aware of all reactions that occur. Examples may include:

• Anxiety
• Headache
• Dizzy sensation
• Nausea and vomiting
• Irritated feeling in the throat

Other reactions are also possible. Cease use of this medication and get medical help straight away if you suffer from pain in the eyes, urination problems, inflammation affecting the feet, serious wheezing, urination difficulties or any other severe adverse events that have not been referenced here.

While undergoing treatment with Duolin it is possible that you will be required to attend your physician`s office to undergo blood tests on a regular basis.
