Pexep CR (Paroxetine) is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, panic attacks, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. As it is an SSRI, with continued treatment, it can help restore the balance of serotonin (a naturally occurring brain chemical) - which helps reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression.
It should be taken once daily or as directed by your physician. It can be taken without regard to food. The single daily dose of Pexep CR (Paroxetine) is taken usually in the morning. Swallow the tablet whole, do not chew or crush.
Side effects from Pexep CR (Paroxetine) are common, and include upset stomach, drowsiness, weakness or tiredness, excitement or anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, dry mouth, changes in appetite or weight.
Pexep CR (Paroxetine) may take 2 to 4 weeks to reach effective levels in your body. Tell your physician and pharmacist if you are allergic to this medicine or any other drugs. Tell your physician and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription drugs you are taking or have taken within the last 2 weeks.
Tell your physician if you have or have ever had glaucoma; an enlarged prostate; difficulty urinating; seizures; an overactive thyroid gland; or liver, kidney, or heart disease. Tell your physician if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking it, call your physician immediately.
If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the physician or dentist that you are taking this medicine. This drug may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you. Remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug. Tell your physician if you use tobacco products. Cigarette smoking may decrease the effectiveness of this drug.
Plan to avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight and to wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. This medicine may make your skin sensitive to sunlight.
