Orcibest

Orcibest (Orciprenaline Sulfate BP) functions as a bronchodilator and is used in the treatment of asthma. In addition to this, it is also indicated for reversible bronchospasms caused by other obstructive breathing conditions (emphysema and bronchitis). The main ingredient in this medication is known as a beta2 adrenergic agonist bronchodilator, and its mechanism of action involves increasing the levels of cAMP (cyclic adenosine monophosphate, a messenger used for transferring the effects of certain hormones into cells).

Increases in the levels of cAMP allows for the bronchial smooth muscle to relax, thereby opening up the muscles in the airways. Asthma and other conditions in which the passage of air into the lungs is obstructed can therefore be alleviated, due to the opening of the airways which makes breathing easier. In addition to this, the medicine can also help reduce or prevent certain mediators of hypersensitivity from being released in the body, which may help reduce the occurrence of symptoms.

Orcibest (Orciprenaline Sulfate BP) tablets are administered orally. This particular formulation contains 10mg of the active ingredient in every tablet. Following a medical consultation, your physician will be able to carefully determine the most suitable dosage regimen. Physicians generally instruct adult patients to take 20mg, 3 or 4 times each day (the exact frequency of administration will vary based on individual circumstances and you will need to adhere to the instructions given by your physician). The physician in charge of treatment may decide to adjust the dosage from time to time, depending on how the patient responds to treatment.

Patients being treated with Orcibest (Orciprenaline Sulfate BP) may experience some side effects. You must report all reactions to your physician. Some possible side effects may include:

• Anxiety
• Tiredness
• Perspiration
• Shaking of the hands
