Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin) is indicated in the topical treatment of a variety of external infections of eye and ear caused by susceptible bacteria. These drops are used to treat the eye infections such as acute and sub-acute conjunctivitis, mucopurulent conjunctivitis, blepharo-conjunctivitis, and blepharitis.
It is also indicated in the topical treatment of ear infections like otitis externa, chronic suppurative otitis media with perforated tympanic membranes and acute otitis media in the presence of tympanostomy tubes.
Patients treating mild to moderate eye infections are sometimes instructed by their physician to apply 1 to 2 Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin) into the affected eye or eyes every 4 hours. In severe infections, apply 2 drops into the eye or eyes hourly until improvement is obtained following which treatment should be reduced.
Adult patients undergoing treatment for otitis externa might be told by their physician to apply 10 drops twice daily. For chronic suppurative otitis media with perforated tympanic membranes, adults may be directed to apply 10 drops twice daily for 14 days.
Side effects of Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin) if applied to eyes include: pruritus, earache, dizziness, headache, vertigo, nausea and seborrhea.
Side effects to ear include: loss of hearing, tinnitus, tremor, fungal infection, dermatitis, eczema, erythematous rash, follicular rash, hypoaesthesia, hot flushes and otorrhagia.
Patients having a history of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, or to any kind of quinolones, or to any of the constituents of the drug should not be treated with Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin).
