Methimez (Methimazole) is used to help treat high blood pressure (hypertension). In addition to treating high blood pressure, this medication may also be given to patients prior to having thyroid gland removal surgery. Patients taking it over an extended period of time should monitor their blood pressure closely as the medication`s effectiveness may be lost when it is used for long periods.
Patients are usually prescribed Methimez (Methimazole) 3 times a day. Dosing should be spaced apart as evenly as possible over each 24 hours in order to keep a constant level of the medication present in the body. Possible dosages range from 15mg to 60mg per day.
