Catapres

Catapres (Clonidine Hydrochloride) is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) by relaxing the blood vessels in the body. This allows blood to flow more easily, reducing the workload on the heart. This also helps to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems. In some cases, physicians may prescribe Catapres to treat the effects of attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), insomnia, or menopause symptoms.

Catapres (Clonidine Hydrochloride) should be taken only according to your physician`s instructions. Catapres is normally taken orally twice a day, although dosage and time may be altered according to your medical history and current health condition as determined by your physician.

Some common side effects of Catapres (Clonidine Hydrochloride) are:

• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Mild fever
• Stomach discomfort or diarrhea
• Constipation
• Insomnia
• Dry mouth
• Headache

More serious side effects can include unusual swelling, fainting, intense dizziness, slowed heart rate, and dysrhythmia.
