Felden Flash

Felden Flash (Piroxicam) is classified as an oxicam non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It provides relief from pain and inflammation by blocking the action of cyclo-oxygenase. Indications include treating osteoarthritis symptoms such as stiff joints and pain, and it also works for rheumatoid arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.

Medical studies have shown that it acts in different ways to affect the immune or inflammatory response which is responsible for pain in patients with arthritis. The most significant way in which it works is through the reversible inhibition of an enzyme known as COX (cyclo-oxygenase), which in turn stops the synthesis of prostaglandins. These prostaglandins are released by the body as part of its response to injury or certain medical disorders, and they can trigger symptoms such as swelling and pain.

By effectively blocking their production, this medicine thereby helps to provide relief from pain. Other ways in which it acts include blocking certain cells and monocytes from moving to the area affected by inflammation and preventing the release of lyosomal enzymes. Some physicians have also used this medicine to treat patients for attacks of gout.

Felden Flash (Piroxicam) comes in the form of 20mg strength tablets which are taken by mouth. The correct dosage will be carefully calculated by your physician, and factors such as the condition being treated and the seriousness of the symptoms will be considered. Because long term treatment could increase the risk of certain health problems, physicians generally direct patients to use it for the shortest possible duration. Under no circumstances should patients take more than the dosage their physician tells them to take, as this is hazardous to the health.

• Flatulence
• Bloated feeling
• Spinning sensation
• Buzzing noise in the ears

Go to the emergency room straight away or consult your physician should you experience weakness in the muscles, blisters occurring on the skin, reduced urination, speech difficulties, seizures or any other serious side effects that are not referenced in this paragraph.

Felden Flash (Piroxicam) is similar to other NSAIDs in that it may increase the risk of serious intestinal bleeding or other dangerous gastrointestinal reactions. These symptoms may even be severe enough to be considered life threatening.

Avoid the consumption of alcoholic drinks during treatment, as drinking alcohol may place you at an increased risk of bleeding in the stomach. Also, every effort should be made to avoid exposing the skin to the sun. This is because this medicine could make the skin more sensitive to sunlight.
