Dilzem

Dilzem (Diltiazem Hydrochloride) is used to treat the symptoms of hypertension, angina, as well as other heart rhythm disorders. It belongs to a group of drugs known as calcium channel blockers. It helps to slow down the heart beat while also relaxing the blood vessels, which in turn helps to lower high blood pressure.

Unless otherwise advised, Dilzem (Diltiazem Hydrochloride) tablets are to be swallowed whole and washed down with a full glass of water. Patients should consult their physician before taking this medication in order to determine the correct dosage, as it may vary depending on the severity of the condition being treated. It is common for your physician to occasionally alter your dosage in accordance with your progress and any side effects you may experience.

Side effects which have been reported by patients taking Dilzem (Diltiazem Hydrochloride) include:

• Nausea
• Headache
• Indigestion
• Flushing
• Sore throat and nasal congestion

Although rare, there are other more serious side effects associated with this drug. See your physician immediately if you experience swollen limbs, an unusually fast or slow heartbeat, dark urine, or yellowing of the eyes or skin.
