Cefadur

Cefadur (Cefadroxil) is classified as a cephalosporin antibiotic, and it works by exhibiting bactericidal activity against the microorganisms responsible for causing infection. The mechanism of action it exhibits involves disrupting the later stages of the process in which the bacteria synthesize their cell walls, and it achieves that by rendering certain proteins inactive. Due to this, the structure of the bacterial cell walls is eventually destroyed, and this results in the elimination of the bacteria.

Cefadur (Cefadroxil) dispersible tablets need to be dispersed in water before use. Each tablet contains 250mg of the active ingredient. Follow the instructions given by your physician with regard to how to take them and the correct daily dosage. Physicians generally direct patients to disperse the tablet by using an amount of water roughly equivalent to a teaspoon (5ml). Patients should note that the dosage can vary depending on the condition, and because many different types of infections can be treated (such as urinary tract infections, skin infections and respiratory infections) it is necessary to only take the amount recommended by the physician.

Treatment of infections with the cephalosporin antibiotic Cefadur (Cefadroxil) might lead to some side effects. Ensure that you tell a physician if this happens. Possible examples include:

• Nausea
• Restless mood
• Sore joints or muscles
• An unusual taste in your mouth
• Digestive upset or stomach pain

Even though less severe side effects are more common, patients should take note of the fact that serious reactions may be experienced (however, this is less common). You will be required to get medical assistance immediately if you suffer from fever, strange discoloration of the urine, diarrhea which is persistent and more severe than usual, weakness, skin blistering or any other serious reactions that have not been referenced in this paragraph.

Because antibiotic resistance can develop, your physician will only recommend Cefadur (Cefadroxil) if your infection is known to or strongly believed to be the result of susceptible bacteria.

In the absence of a bacterial infection, treatment with this medicine will provide no therapeutic benefits, and it does not treat colds or flu.
