Cefdiel

Cefdiel (Cefdinir) is a semi-synthetic antibiotic which treats a wide variety of bacterial infections and is part of a group of drugs known as Cephalosporins. It is most commonly used to treat respiratory trat infections, soft tissue infections, and otitis media. This medication works by preventing the formation of cell walls which bacteria grows and reproduces on, gradually causing existing bacteria to die. Please note that this medication is not effective in fighting pseudomonas.

Always follow the directions provided with your prescription. Never change your dose yourself, or self-medicate. Dosage can vary from patient to patient, but a typical dose is 300mg, taken once or twice a day, for 5 to days days. Children and patients with kidney diseases require a lower dose.

Commonly reported side effects which are usually safe include appetite loss, upset stomach, dizziness, tight muscles, mild rashes, and dry mouth. Report any of these you experience to your physician.

Other possible side effects include chest pains, bloody or watery stools, seizures, jaundice, sore throat, and fever. If you experience any of these, inform your physician as soon as possible.
