Zostum-O

Zostum-O (Cefditoren Pivoxil) is given as treatment to help with various bacterial based infections. It is a cephalosporin antibiotic, which inhibits bacteria from multiplying and growing further. It may be used alone or combined with other antibacterial drugs as prescribed by your physician. Please note that this medication is not designed to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.

Always follow your physician`s instructions when using this medication. You will typically be directed to take two tablets each day along with meals to prevent nausea. Do not stop taking your medication until your course of medication is complete. Symptoms and signs of infection may have disappeared but it is still essential to finish the course of medication to prevent a relapse of the condition. Like any anti-biotic, this drug is most effective when used consistently. For best results dose at the same time(s) each day.

Rarer side effects may include the following.

• Shortness of breath
• Swelling in the ankles/feet
• Weak muscles
• Increase in appetite or thirst
• Abnormal urination
• Severe nausea
• Vomiting
• Jaundice
• Fever
• Easy bleeding or bruising
• Feeling tired
• Change in heartbeat
• Seizures
• Mood changes
• Severe intestinal condition - diarrhea, pains or cramps in the abdomen or stomach, bloody stools

When used repeatedly or for a prolonged period of time the risk of oral thrush and vaginal yeast infections increase.
