Bambudil

Bambudil (Bambuterol) is classified as a long acting beta-adrenoceptor agonist which is indicated for the maintenance and control of asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) as well as other similar conditions. Its mechanism of action is opening up the airways so as to prevent bronchospasms and breathing difficulties. This medicine is a type of prodrug and it is metabolized into the active form terbutaline. After this, it acts on the beta 2 receptors in the muscles of the airways and lungs which relaxes them, thereby causing the airways to open up.

Bambudil (Bambuterol) 10mg tablets are taken by mouth. Adult patients are normally advised by their physician to take a single tablet per day, just before going to bed. Your physician may increase the dosage to 20mg per day after 1 to 2 weeks if it is deemed necessary. The tablets should be swallowed whole, however patients should remember that only the dosage recommended by the physician providing treatment should be taken. Never exceed the maximum dosage, as this could put you at risk of serious reactions.

Treatment of asthma or any other conditions with Bambudil (Bambuterol) might lead to side effects. Inform your physician of any reactions that occur. Examples can include:

• Cramps
• Insomnia
• Shakiness
• Headaches
• Feeling restless

Other side effects may also occur. If you suffer from any serious adverse events, including ones which are not referenced here, see your physician immediately.

Patients with renal function problems may be told to take a lower dosage of Bambudil (Bambuterol) by their physician.

Other forms of treatment will also be recommended by your physician in order to control asthma symptoms.
