Daxas (Roflumilast) is classified as a phosphodieterase 4 inhibitor and it works by decreasing inflammation inside the lungs. Indications include COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and asthma. Some patients have also been treated with it for chronic bronchitis. When administered, this medicine blocks the action of the enzyme known as phosphodiesterase 4, and prevents it from causing inflammation. This in turn lowers the production of mucus and helps prevent the airways from becoming narrow, which leads to an improvement in breathing.
Daxas (Roflumilast) comes as 500mcg strength film coated tablets. Your physician will determine the appropriate dosage. Patients are usually told by their physician to administer a single tablet each day, either with food or without it. You should not exceed the dosage recommended to you, as this could be hazardous to your health.
Use of Daxas (Roflumilast) may contribute to side effects in some cases. Talk to your physician if this happens. Examples include:
In some cases, the occurrence of severe adverse reactions which required the immediate attention of a physician have occurred. This is generally considered to be a less common occurrence. However, if it does happen, you must get medical help straight away.
Daxas (Roflumilast) does not work for a sudden onset of breathing problems or breathlessness. Your physician may direct you to carry a quick relief or short acting inhaler in case this happens.
Avoid driving or other dangerous tasks if you become dizzy.
