Voveran Emulgel (Diclofenac Sodium) is a topically applied NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) that works by relieving pain. It is indicated for the treatment of painful joints (especially in the ankles, knees, wrists, elbows and hands), when these symptoms have been caused by osteoarthritis. This gel works by inhibiting the enzyme known as COX (cyclooxygenase), thereby decreasing the amount of inflammatory prostaglandins that are formed. As a result of this, pain and swelling may be relieved. Topical application allows it to work at the site of pain, where it is needed most.
Voveran Emulgel (Diclofenac Sodium) is provided as a non-greasy formula which should be gently massaged into the skin. Physicians generally instruct patients to apply it 4 times per day, in the morning, after eating lunch, and again after dinner followed by a final application just before going to bed. However, it is important to note that the required frequency of application could vary depending on individual circumstances and it is necessary to follow the instructions of your physician. You will also be told by your physician how much gel to use. It is important that excess gel is not applied, and if your hands are being treated, do not wash them for at least 1 hour after application.
Treatment with the topical pain relieving medicine Voveran Emulgel (Diclofenac Sodium) may cause side effects in some patients. Tell your physician if this happens. Some possible reactions are listed here:
Serious side effects are also possible, but not as common as mild reactions. These may occur due to the gel being absorbed into the bloodstream. You will require medical attention straight away if you suffer from anemia, a sudden weakness affecting one side of the body, blisters on the skin, difficulty speaking properly, problems affecting the liver or any other severe reactions that have not been referenced here.
Voveran Emulgel (Diclofenac Sodium) is not to be consumed orally. This product is strictly for use on the skin, in strict accordance with the instructions provided by your physician before the commencement of treatment.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can cause gastrointestinal problems, and in rare cases, these may progress to serious reactions, including ulceration and bleeding. If any symptoms of bleeding or stomach pain occur, see your physician immediately.
