Victoza

Victoza (Liraglutide) is prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes, otherwise known as non-insulin dependent diabetes. The medication operates by regulating blood sugar levels to prevent symptoms associated with this condition such as faintness, sweating, or irritation.

Use Victoza (Liraglutide) exactly as directed by your doctor to get the best results. The medication is usually applied once daily at the prescribed dosage which will depend on your health and the severity of your symptoms. For best results the medication should be used at the same time each day. It should be noted that the medication is not meant for injection intravenously or intramuscularly and should instead be injected subcutaneously in the thigh, upper arm, or abdomen.

Side effects that may occur while using Victoza (Liraglutide) include:

• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
• Constipation
• Abdominal pain
• Dyspepsia
• Headaches
• Nasopharyngitis
• Hypoglycaemia

Victoza (Liraglutide) should not be used by patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, who have type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or severely reduced liver or kidney function. Also disclose if you have hyperthyroidism or heart failure to make sure any necessary changes are made to your dosage.
