Veltride

Veltride (Dutasteride) is used for treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This condition causes enlargement of the prostate in men and leads to problems with urination. The medication inhibits the production of dihydrotestosterone in the body to reduce the size of the enlarged prostate over time to bringing relief from the symptoms commonly associated with this condition.

Take Veltride (Dutasteride) exactly as directed by your physician to get the most effective results from treatment. One tablet is typically taken each day, but your instructions will be based on the severity of your condition. These should be swallowed with a full cup of water and may be taken with or without food. Do not change the form of the tablets by splitting or crushing them as this may destroy or alter the effects of their contents.

Veltride (Dutasteride) may cause side effects in some patients such as impotence, decreased sex drive, breast enlargement and tenderness, or a decrease in the amount of semen released during sex. These side effects usually decrease or disappear with continued usage of the medication. Contact your physician immediately if you encounter any worrying symptoms to make sure any necessary adjustments are made to your treatment.

Veltride (Dutasteride) should not be used by women, children under the age of eighteen, patients who have decreased liver function, or who are allergic to dutasteride. Pregnant women should never handle the medicine as it may be absorbed through the skin and affect the fetus.
