Tagon

Tagon (Tegaserod) is primarily used by female patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, a condition which is also referred to as IBS. This medicine will encourage serotonin in your intestines to work harder, which results in stool being passed more quickly. It is most effective for chronic or severe cases of IBS and specifically helps those who suffer chronic constipation as opposed to diarrhea.

Strictly take Tagon (Tegaserod) as prescribed. Do not self-medicate or alter your prescribed dosage yourself. A typical prescription is to dose twice per day. Dose on an empty stomach and wash down with a full glass of water. Swallow tablets whole without chewing, splitting, or dissolving into water.Improvements can usually begin to be seen after 2 weeks of use. If you have noticed no changes after 4 weeks of use, consult your physician promptly to discuss if an alternative dosage or medication is necessary. As this medication only manages the IBS and does not cure it, when a patient ceases use their symptoms will return after approximately 2 weeks.

Notify your physician of any side effects which you notice. Promptly inform your physician if any persist or bother you.

• Headaches
• Migraines
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Back pains
• Joint pains
• Gassiness

More serious side effects which require immediate medical attention include:

• Severe stomach pains
• Faintness
• Severe diarrhea
• Bloody or tarry stool
• Any symptoms of an allergic reaction (including skin rashes, hives, swelling, trouble breathing, or difficulty swallowing)

Tagon (Tegaserod) may not be safe for all patients. Always make sure your prescribing physician has been made aware or is already aware if you smoke tobacco, drink alcohol, or use recreational drugs.
