Nupentin (Gabapentin) is an anti-convulsant prescribed to help manage seizures which are a result of epilepsy. This medicine is sometimes used in combination with others to help patients who are not successful at controlling their condition with standard anti-epileptic medications.
It can also be used to help reduce neuropathic pain caused by damaged nerves. It works by managing chemicals located in the brain more effectively, helping to inhibit pain and seizures by affecting the signals sent between nerves and the brain.
Dosage can very vastly between patients. Always consult your physician or physician regarding the correct dosage for you, and always follow his/her instructions. Normally your physician will start you on a low dosage of Nupentin (Gabapentin) and increase until the optimum dosage for you is found.
Patients with other medical conditions such as kidney problems or haemodialysis may be advised to dose on relatively lower amounts. Capsules should be swallowed whole, alongside a full glass of water. Do no chew, crush, or dissolve the capsule. For best results, dose at the same time every day.
Common side effects experienced when taking Nupentin (Gabapentin) can include those listed below. If any of these side effects persist, worsen, or become bothersome, inform your physician.
If you experience any of the following listed side effects, inform your physician as soon as possible.
