Metoral

Metoral (Metolazone) helps to keep your blood pressure under control. It is also used to treat water retention caused by heart, liver or kidney disease. Water retention may be noticed as swelling of the feet, ankles, lower leg and hands. For this reason, it is commonly known as a `water pill`. This medicine may also be used to treat other medical conditions, as decided by your physician.

Take Metoral (Metolazone) exactly as directed by your physician. Do not take more or less than instructed by your physician. Take Metoral after a meal. This will help to minimise any stomach discomfort that may occur. Try to take it at the same time each day. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal schedule.

Side effects of Metoral (Metolazone) include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Loss of appetite
• Rashes
• Peeling skin
• Sensitivity to sunlight
• Chills
• Dizziness
• Chest pain
• Irregular heartbeat

Prior to beginning treatment with Metoral (Metolazone), inform your physician if you have diabetes, gout, high cholesterol, liver disease or lupus.

Patients affected by bladder or kidney disease must inform their physician before starting treatment with this medicine.
