Administer Melanocyl Ointment (Methoxsalen/Aminobenzoic Acid) as you have been directed by your physician. Applying the ointment incorrectly could result in undesirable side effects and worsen your condition. Do not apply to your eyes, mouth, ears, or nose. Never apply to any damaged or broken skin, for example cuts, scrapes, eczema, and burns. Always wash your hands and the affected area of skin both before, and after applying the ointment.
Disclose all side effects you experience to your physician. Side effects reported by patients taking Melanocyl Ointment (Methoxsalen/Aminobenzoic Acid) have included:
Melanocyl Ointment (Methoxsalen/Aminobenzoic Acid) causes the eyes and skin to be more sensitive to the sun. As a result, patients should avoid any unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, and cover up skin as much as possible when it is unavoidable. Avoid all use of UV sun lamps or tanning beds. Due to the increased sensitivity of the eyes and the risk of cataracts, patients should wear sunglasses while taking this medication.
Do not use this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive a child.
