Maxalt Melt

Maxalt Melt (Rizatriptan Benzoate) is used to relieve the pain caused by migraines. Additionally to reducing pain, it will also increase the user`s tolerance towards sound and light whilst lessening nausea. This medication is a type of triptan drug, it helps by affecting serotonin in the patient`s brain, encouraging blood flow and blocking certain messages to inhibit the sensation of pain. Please note that this medicine will not prevent migraines from occurring nor will it reduce the frequency of occurrence, however it will effectively and promptly manage a migraine.

Maxalt Melt (Rizatriptan Benzoate) works best when it is taken at the first sign of a migraine. You can dose on an empty stomach or alongside food. If you do not experience any benefits after 2 hours, or the migraine returns in severity, you may be recommended to take a 2nd dose. Speak to your physician to ensure you are taking this drug safely, and always stick to your prescribed dosage. The maximum amount to taken in any 24 hour period is 30mg, assuming the patient is taking no other medication.

While taking Maxalt Melt (Rizatriptan Benzoate), you may experience the following side effects:

• Weakness, numbness, tiredness, drowsiness or dizziness
• Dryness in the mouth
• A tingling or a prickly feeling
• Redness (flushing)

You should immediately contact your physician or seek medical advice if you experience:

• Stiffness or pains
• Dizziness or faintness
• Abnormal heartbeat
• Vision or speech impairment
• Abnormal mood changes
• Weakness that is one sided on your body
• Bloody stool
