Loraclear

Loraclear (Loratadine) is a type of antihistamine used to treat symptoms of hay fever, such as watery eyes, sneezing, itching, and runny nose. It may also be used to relieve itching which is caused by hives. This medication works by reducing the effects of the natural chemical histamine.

Loraclear (Loratadine) tablets are to be swallowed whole, without being chewed, crushed, split, or dissolved, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. This medication may be taken either with or without food, but should be washed down with a full glass of water. Patients are often instructed to take 1 tablet per day, however the exact dosage varies depending on the patient`s medical condition. Never exceed the dosage prescribed to your by your doctor.

Some minor side effects have been reported by patients taking Loraclear (Loratadine) such as:

• Drowsiness
• Blurred vision
• Redness of the eyes
• Nosebleeds
• Headaches

Although it is rare, there are other more serious side effects associated with this drug. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience seizures, fast heart beat, or yellowing of the eyes or skin.

If your doctor has prescribed this medication to treat hives, you should immediately consult your doctor if your hives are not itchy, are bruised or are a strange colour, as this could be an indication of a more serious condition.

Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug, especially drowsiness.
