Infacol Oral Suspension (Simethicone) is used to relieve the discomfort caused by infant colic. It is classified as an antiflatulent and it works by helping to expel trapped wind and air from the gut. Colic can cause pain and discomfort, which is due to the accumulation of small bubbles of gas becoming trapped inside the stomach. This medicine can help to bind these smaller bubbles into larger ones which are then easily released as wind. As a result of this, the pain occurring as a result of colic can be relieved, as well as wind and griping pain.
Infacol Oral Suspension (Simethicone) is provided in the form of a suspension which is administered orally. Your physician will provide you with instructions on how and when to administer it. Generally, physicians recommend using one dropper (equal to 0.5ml) before each feed. If the colic persists after 3 to 4 days, the physician might advise increasing the dose to 2 full droppers (1ml). Treatment may be recommended to continue for several days, and physicians may also deem it safe for use over several weeks. However, should the symptoms persist, it will be necessary to consult your physician for further advice.
If your infant shows signs of side effects after taking Infacol Oral Suspension (Simethicone) you should consult a physician.
