Hydrocortisone Cream (Hydrocortisone Acetate) contains an active compound which is a type of glucocorticoid. It is used for the temporary relief of itching associated with minor skin irrations and rashes due to eczema, sunburn, insect bites, soaps, detergents, and for external genital and feminine itching. Other uses of this product should be only under the advice of a physician.
Hydrocortisone Cream (Hydrocortisone Acetate) comes as a 1% strength formula. It is possible for systemic effects to occur (such as hypercorticalism) if excess amounts of the cream are applied to the skin. To prevent this, you must only use the amount of cream which your doctor directs you to apply.
Prior to using the cream, ensure that the hands (and the area in need of treatment) are clean and dry. Rub a thin film of cream into the skin 3 to 4 times daily (the exact amount will be different for each patient, and depends on the symptoms). If your symptoms continue after 7 days, or if your condition appears to get worse, see your doctor immediately.
Children under 2 years of age should not use this cream.
