Hilin (Diacerein) is classified as an anthraquinone and is used for treating osteoarthritis and other joint problems. Its mechanism of action involves blocking interleukin-1 beta so as to alleviate the symptoms of these conditions. Interleukin-1 beta is a type of protein called a cytokine and it is known to play an important role in the destruction of cartilage and inflammation. Blocking its synthesis helps to prevent this. Hilin (Diacerein) comes in tablet form, and the strength of each one is 50mg. Your physician will assess the extent of your symptoms and decide on the appropriate treatment and dosage schedule.
