Gynokadin Dosiergel

Gynokadin Dosiergel (Estradiol) is indicated for vasomotor and vaginal symptoms caused by the menopause. It works by triggering a release of estradiol (a type of estrogenic hormone) into the body. This helps to manage and control the symptoms of menopause by compensating for the reduced levels of estrogen. Estrogens are types of hormones which play a key role in the female body. However, the levels of estrogen in the body usually decline as a result of the menopause, and this is what triggers the symptoms mentioned above.

This form of treatment is referred to as HRT (hormone replacement therapy), and it aims to replace the estrogen levels. It achieves this by binding to certain receptors in tissues which are responsive to estrogen. The main ingredient in this gel, Estradiol is considered to be more potent than other estrogen metabolites (such as estriol and estrone), and is also known to work by lowering the elevated levels of certain hormones that can occur as a result of the menopause.

Gynokadin Dosiergel (Estradiol) is applied directly to the skin in accordance with the instructions given by your physician. Ensure that the skin is fully dry before application, and remember to administer it at the same time each day. The pump will need to be primed before the first use. To do this, you will need to press the pump 3 times, after which it will be ready to use. Any gel which you have not used will need to be discarded.

When applying it, the gel should be squeezed onto the palm of the hand and gently rubbed into the skin of the arm, so that it is spread thinly from the wrist to the shoulder. It only needs to be applied onto one arm. After use, the cap should be replaced on the bottle and you will also need to wash your hands to ensure that the gel does not accidentally come into contact with others. Every time the pump is pressed, 1.25g of gel containing 0.75mg of the main ingredient will be released. It is important to note that the amount of applications per day, as well as the duration of time will be decided upon by your physician.

Patients being treated with Gynokadin Dosiergel (Estradiol) should note that some side effects may be possible. You must report all reactions to your physician. Examples are listed here:

• Headaches
• Loss of hair
• Bloated feeling
• Pain in the breasts
• Cramps in the stomach

Serious adverse events are also possible. Get medical attention or see your physician straight away if you notice headaches which are severe in nature, visual disturbances, speech problems, leg pain, fatigue or any other serious reactions that have not been referenced in this paragraph.

Gynokadin Dosiergel (Estradiol) is approved for topical application. However, it must never be rubbed onto the breasts or the vagina, and it should also never be consumed by mouth.

Your physician will schedule medical appointments for you so that your symptoms can be checked and assessed. It is necessary to attend all scheduled medical visits.
