Elocon (Mometasone Furoate) is a vasoconstrictive and antipruritic agent. It is used to provide relief from the symptoms of dermatoses which are responsive to corticosteroid treatment. It works by reducing inflammation. The precise way in which corticosteroids achieve their anti-inflammatory benefits are not fully clear.
Care must be taken during treatment with Elocon (Mometasone Furoate) to ensure that all instructions given by your doctor are complied with. Doctors generally instruct adults treating psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis to gently apply a thin layer of the ointment to the part of skin which needs to be treated once per day.
Patients must not bandage the treated area or cover it with any occlusive dressings unless the doctor in charge of treatment strictly tells them to do so. Treatment is generally withdrawn once the symptoms are under control. Should the condition show no signs of improvement after 2 weeks, a doctor should be consulted.

It is essential that all side effects are mentioned to your doctor. There are other side effects caused by this ointment which are so serious that your doctor will need to be contacted immediately. These can include blurry eyesight, weak muscles, oozing from the skin, changes in behaviour, fatigue and other potential serious reactions that have not been mentioned here.
Elocon (Mometasone Furoate) is for external use only. Avoid getting it into your eyes. Do not use it to treat anything other than the condition for which it was prescribed.
Application of this ointment to a large portion of skin must be avoided.
