Cresar (Telmisartan) is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (antagonist) used to help manage hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by relaxing and widening blood vessel, and allowing blood to flow more freely. Reducing hypertension reduces the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and even kidney problems.
Correct dosage will vary from patient to patient, depending on the condition, their health, and their medical history. As an example only, a normal dose is often from 20mg to 40mg of Cresar (Telmisartan) taken once per day. The effects of the treatment are usually seen after approximately 2 weeks of treatment, and the full effects after 4 weeks. Patients can dose either both on an empty stomach, or alongside meals. Aim to dose at the same time each day.
As with all other medication, side effects may occur while using Cresar (Telmisartan). Possible side effects include dizziness, back pains, vision changes or vision problems. These adverse effects usually only occur when the medicine is first used, and should only be short lasting. If any persist, worse, or become worrying, inform your physician as soon as possible.
Seek immediate medical care if you experience weakness, jaundice, abnormal bruising, or persistent vomiting.
Do not use Cresar (Telmisartan) if you are pregnant, planning to conceive a child, or breastfeeding, as there serious risks to unborn foetuses and breastfed children.
