Description
Carproheal (Carprofen) is used to provide relief from the pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, and other forms of joint deterioration. It is also effective as an antipyretic. It works by selectively inhibiting the production of COX-2. It does not interfere with the activity of COX-1 which has role in synthesis of prostaglandins necessary for normal gastrointestinal and renal function.
The recommended dosage needed for animals undergoing treatment with Carproheal (Carprofen) will be decided by a vet. In some cases, it may need to be divided between morning and evening doses. It is administered 2 hours before surgery when being used to relieve post-operative pain.
