CONJYA (Conjugated Estrogens) is made from a combination of female sex hormones and is effective at treating vaginal menopause symptoms. Endogenous estrogens play a key role in the female body, in particular the maintenance of the reproductive system, while also contributing to secondary sexual characteristics. However, when approaching the menopause, the production of estrogen decreases gradually. This means that there is less estrogen in the blood.
Resulting from this, itching or dryness of the vagina (vaginal atrophy), hot flashes and other vasomotor symptoms can occur. This medicine works as an estrogen only HRT (hormone replacement therapy), which aims to compensate for the reduction in estrogen production by supplying orally administered estrogen to the body, which can help provide relief from the unpleasant symptoms of the menopause. Other uses for this medicine include preventing osteoporosis, treating hypoestrogenism, and also the treatment of certain forms of breast or prostate cancer.
CONJYA (Conjugated Estrogens) tablets come as a 0.625mg strength version and are taken by mouth. In most cases, these tablets will only be taken for a short duration, and treatment may be on a cyclical basis. Some women may be directed by their physician to take it for 3 weeks, followed by 1 week without treatment. However, other disorders may need daily administration, or else 2 weekly doses during the period of medical treatment. All patients taking this medicine must strictly comply with the dosage schedule provided by their physician, as well as any other instructions given.
Treatment with the female hormone tablets CONJYA (Conjugated Estrogens) may result in side effects, and you must inform your physician of all reactions that occur. Examples can include:
In addition to the reactions above, patients may also be affected by other side effects. Although it is not as common, there is a risk of serious side effects. Attend the emergency room or consult your physician straight away if you suffer from lumps on the breast, migraines, difficulties related to eyesight, inflammation noticeable in the limbs, problems remembering things or any other severe reactions which have not been referenced here.
Treatment with CONJYA (Conjugated Estrogens) on a long term basis has been associated with a higher risk of breast cancer or other serious problems such as strokes or heart attacks. Regularly check your breasts and attend all scheduled medical appointments made by your physician.
If you smoke, or have a history of blood clots, heart attacks, breast cancer, diabetes, lupus as well as certain other conditions, ensure that you inform the physician of this before starting treatment.
