Amlip

Amlip (Amlodipine Besilate) can help lower blood pressure in patients suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure). It belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers or calcium ion antagonists. They work by widening your blood vessels, making it easier for your heart to pump blood around the body and help increase the supply of blood and oxygen to your heart. Calcium channel blockers do not change the amount of calcium in your blood or bones.

These tablets are usually taken once a day, but it goes without saying that you should follow your doctor`s advices concerning dosage.

Tablets are consumed regardless with or without food. But in case it cause some stomach trouble, it is recommended to take this drug after a meal and around the same time each day, so its level in blood will remain approximately the same. Your age, the history of diseases, medical condition you are treating and possible combination with other medication will have influence on your Amlodipine Besilate dosage.

Under any circumstances do not adjust the doses without consulting your health care specialist. Avoid overdosing, as it can cause hypotension (low blood pressure) and tachycardia (fast heart rate). If you missed a dose and it is closer to the time of the next taking, just skip it.

Side effects are possible, as with any other medication. However, with Amlodipine Besilateare not everybody will experience them.

If side effects do occur, most patients do not particularly suffer from them and manage to get rid of them very easily, with or without their health care consultant. Usually those include:

• palpitations of the heart
• water retention
• feeling of tiredness
• dizziness
• discomfort and pains in the stomach
• redness of the skin
• flushing
