Rexacrom Eye Drops (Sodium Cromoglicate) is an antiallergic drug that acts to stabilize mast cell membranes, to prevent asthmatic reactions after inhaling non-antigenic stimuli and allergens, as well as preventing the release of inflammatory mediators (heparin, histamine, bradykinin, serotonin and others).
Rexacrom Eye Drops (Sodium Cromoglicate) prevents the release of mediators of type I allergic reactions, including histamine and cysteinil leukotrienes (slowly reacting anaphylaxis [SRS-A]), from sensitized mast cells following the formation of the antigen-antibody complex. Sodium cromoglycate suppresses mediated IgE release of mediators (for example, histamine, cysteinil leukotrienes) from mast cells. The drug also to a lesser extent inhibits reactions of type III (late allergic reactions). The action of sodium cromoglycate on mast cells is not limited to antigen-induced secretion, since it has been shown that the drug also inhibits secretion induced by other mast cell cytotoxic stimulators (e.g., polyamine 48/80).
It appears that sodium cromoglycate inhibits phospholipase-A induced degradation of mast cells and further release of chemical mediators in vitro. It is believed that the drug can block calcium channels in mast cells. It was also suggested that sodium cromoglycate may inhibit the release of histamine from mast cells by regulating the phosphorylation of a specific mastocyte protein that is involved in secretory mechanisms.
Always follow your doctor`s instructions when using Rexacrom Eye Drops (Sodium Cromoglicate) to get the safest and most effective results from treatment.
In the symptomatic treatment of seasonal keratoconjunctivitis, seasonal conjunctivitis and seasonal keratitis, the usual dose is for adults and children from 4 years of age for 1 or 2 drops in each eye 4-6 times a day at regular intervals. The recommended frequency should not be exceeded.
When applying eye drops, it can sometimes be burning in the eyes, chemosis, feeling of a foreign body, conjunctival hyperaemia, temporary blurred vision, tearing, irritation, hypersensitivity reactions.
In some rare cases, headache, dysphagia, nausea, and severe generalized anaphylactic reactions with bronchospasm were reported.
Rexacrom Eye Drops (Sodium Cromoglicate) should not be used when a patient wears contact lenses. Before pouring, hard lenses should be removed and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back on.
Sufficient and well-controlled studies of eye drops with pregnant women have not been conducted. Therefore, use during pregnancy is not recommended except in cases where the benefit outweighs the potential risk.
It is unknown whether sodium cromoglycate is excreted with breast milk. Therefore, care should be taken when appointing these eye drops to women who are breastfeeding and to appoint them when the benefit outweighs the potential risk.
Temporary tingling or fuzzy vision may be possible. Therefore, after using of the drug, if necessary, to drive a car or work with other mechanisms, wait a few minutes. Do not drive or use other vehicles until normal vision is restored.
