Zigat (Gatifloxacin) is used to treat bacterial eye infections. It is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that stops the reproduction of bacteria cells to stop the spread of infection. It may also be prescribed to treat other conditions as determined and prescribed by your physician.
Administer Zigat (Gatifloxacin) directly into the affected eye using the standard procedure for eye drops. Always remove your contact lenses before applying the medication. After applying the drops close the eye immediately and keep it closed for approximately one minute allowing it to be absorbed. While the eye is closed apply pressure gently to the inside corner of the eye to prevent the solution from draining into your tear ducts.
Even though most patients will not experience side effects, some patients have reported experiencing unusual symptoms while using Zigat (Gatifloxacin). Inform your physician if you experience any unusual or worrying side effects such as:
