Wysolone

Wysolone (Prednisolone) is a glucocorticoid which modifies how the body`s immune system reacts to stimuli. It is indicated for use in various auto-immune disorders and inflammatory conditions which are responsive to its anti-inflammatory properties. The main ingredient in this medicine is derived from cortisol and is prednisone`s active metabolite. Physicians often advise using it for the treatment of patients who are not able to metabolize prednisone into its active form prednisolone due to hepatic failure.

Indications for this medicine include rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, lupus, psoriasis which is severe in nature, allergic rhinitis that does not respond to other forms of therapy, allergic reactions, keratitis and other eye problems, respiratory conditions, ulcerative colitis and other gastrointestinal disorders, multiple sclerosis and other conditions not listed here. This medicine`s mechanism of action involves inhibiting the inflammatory response by preventing leukotrienes and other substances that play a key role in inflammation form being released.

Wysolone (Prednisolone) is provided as both 5mg and 10mg strength tablets for oral administration. The range of conditions treated with this medicine is considerably wide, and because of this, the physician must individualize the dosage for each patient. The exact dosage will differ significantly depending on the reason the medicine is being taken and the patient`s response to treatment. Generally, the daily dosage that physicians will advise patients to take ranges from 5mg to 60mg per day, with a lower daily dosage being recommended in less serious cases. If the patient is being treated for a prolonged period of time, a gradual decrease in the daily dosage may be recommended so as to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
