Udiliv (Ursodesoxycholic Acid) is used to treat gallstones as an alternative to surgery. It operates by breaking down the cholesterol that has formed into stones within the gallbladder. This medication may also be used to treat primary biliary cirrhosis.

Udiliv (Ursodesoxycholic Acid) should be taken exactly as instructed for your physician for the entire length of time prescribed to get the most effective results from treatment. Always attend any scheduled appointments as regular ultrasounds may be performed on your gallbladder to make sure treatment is having the desired effects. The typical dosage is one tablet administered for a cycle of medication lasting one week. These should be swallowed with a large glass of water and may be taken with a meal to prevent nausea. Do not crush or split the tablets prior to use to avoid destroying or altering the effects of their contents.

Some minor side effects which have been reported by patients taking Udiliv (Ursodesoxycholic Acid) include:

• Stomach pains or nausea
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Dizziness
• Back pain
• Flu symptoms

Udiliv (Ursodesoxycholic Acid) should not be used by patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have biliary obstruction, chronic liver disease, or ulcerative colitis.
