Tambocor

Tambocor (Flecainide) is a type of medicine called a class IC anti-arrhythmic. Its mode of action involves affecting the way the heart beats, which makes it suitable for treating or preventing serious conditions related to heart rhythm, such as symptomatic ventricular tachycardia, arrhythmias and other related conditions. By reducing the heart`s sensitivity to electrical impulses, disturbances and irregular heartbeats can be prevented and treated.

Always use Tambocor (Flecainide) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

Adults taking this medicine for ventricular tachycardia may be directed to take an initial dose of 100mg every 12 hours. The prescribing doctor may decide to increase the patient`s dosage, and a maintenance dose may then be prescribed. Artrial fibrillation is usually treated with 50mg taken every 12 hours, which may also be increased. It is necessary to follow all instructions provided by your doctor during the course of treatment.

Patients taking Tambocor (Flecainide) may experience side effects, such as:

• Feeling nervous or depressed
• Uncontrolled bodily shaking
• Tingling sensation or numbness
• Visual changes or disturbances

You should inform your doctor about any side effects which you notice. In some cases, serious reactions may be caused by this medicine. See your doctor immediately if you notice coughing persistently, bloody mucus, memory loss, pneumonitis, corneal microdeposits or any other signs of a serious reaction.

Patients with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter who take Tambocor (Flecainide) may be at an increased risk of some types of irregular heartbeats. If you are affected by these conditions, your doctor may tell you not to take this drug.

Although this drug can treat or have certain positive effects on patients affected by irregular heartbeats, it is also possible that a new type of irregular heartbeat may be caused by taking this drug. Because of this, it may be necessary to remain in hospital when commencing treatment with this medication, so that you can be properly monitored.
