Regaine / Nizral

Regaine (Minoxidil) is used on the scalp to slow down and reverse male pattern hair loss and Nizral Shampoo (Ketoconazole) helps relieve dandruff and dermatitis, even that which occurs alongside baldness. The efficacy of minoxidil in the treatment of baldness was shown in clinical trials conducted by leading dermatological experts. A slowing down of the hair loss process or else new hair growth was shown to occur in most men who participated, however, it is possible that some men may only grow thin hair similar to fuzz. As a general guide, the likelihood of successful results is increased if the patient has only started going bald recently. It works by stimulating the hair regrowth cycle.

Ketoconazole is an antifungal shampoo which contains active antifungal components that can clean your hair and target a type of yeast (fungus) referred to as malassezia. This fungus occurs on the skin naturally but it can trigger seborrhoeic dermatitis (dandruff and scaling on the scalp) as well as tinea versicolor or pityriasis versicolor if overgrowth occurs. Regular treatment can destroy excess fungi and can even prevent the recurrence of symptoms. Recently conducted medical research suggested a possible link between use of this shampoo and positive effects in the treatment of male pattern baldness. Due to this, many men suffering from thinning hair have used it in the hope of improving their condition.

Strict compliance with your physician`s instructions is a requirement of all patients undergoing treatment. Men using Regaine (Minoxidil) to assist with hair regrowth may be instructed to use it on dry hair (and scalp) 2 times each day. The exact application procedure may depend on how much hair thinning or baldness you have suffered from, however it is generally used on the exact spot affected.

Wash your hair with Nizral Shampoo (Ketoconazole) as directed by your physician (usually at 3 to 4 day intervals for a period of 2 to 4 weeks). Less frequent application is needed when used to prevent symptoms. To treat skin infections, the application procedure may differ.

Regaine (Minoxidil) could cause shedding at the beginning of treatment which will gradually stop as new hair grows. Mild irritation and other reactions are also possible. Patients using Nizral Shampoo (Ketoconazole) may experience:

• Flaking
• Hair root problems
• Excess tear production
• Reduced sense of taste
• Differing texture of hair

If you notice side effects after using either of these products, notify your physician. Immediate treatment is a requirement if severe reactions occur after use of the hair loss solution or medicated shampoo.

These two hair care and dermatological treatments are only to be used orally. Never ingest the contents.
