Description

Uses

QVIR Kit contains a combination of Atazanavir, Ritonavir, Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate and Emtricabine. It is used in the treatment of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection in adults, and in some cases adolescents. Atazanavir and Ritonavir are protease inhibitors and Emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors so QVIR works via two different mechanisms of action making it very effective.

Dosage and Administration

Each kit contains two tablets:

  • one fixed-dose combination of atazanavir 300mg + ritonavir 100mg
  • one fixed-dose combination of emtricabine 200mg + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300mg

QVIR can be taken by adults and by adolescents who are over 12 years old and weight at least 40kg.

In most cases the recommended dosage is one atazanavir/ritonavir tablet and one emtricitabine/tenofovir tablet taken once daily. Some conditions may require dosage adjustments. Follow the dosing instructions provided by your doctor.

The tablets should be taken with food.

Side effects

The most commonly reported side effects during trials were nausea, jaundice, scleral icterus, and rash.
