This medicine is contains gentamicin, which is a broad spectrum antibiotic, making it effective at targeting the bacteria responsible for the infection.
It also contains clotrimazole, an antifungal which is proven to target yeast in the ear such as malassezia pachydermatis. Finally, betamethasone (a corticosteroid) is added, to help reduce swelling.
Otomax Ear Drops (Gentamicin/Betamethasone/Clotrimazole) must be administered properly, in accordance with the instructions of the prescribing vet. Pet owners are usually instructed to administer it twice per day, and treatment usually lasts for a period of 7 days. In most cases, dogs that weigh less than 30lbs are treated with 4 drops for each ear, and dogs heavier than 30lbs usually need 8 drops applied into each ear.

Some dogs may experience serious side effects, however, this is less common. Take your animal to a vet straight away if it becomes sick, as it may require treatment.
If overgrowth of bacteria or fungi occurs, the vet may recommend stopping treatment with these ear drops and prescribing alternative forms of treatment.
These ear drops are only for veterinary use.
