Genticyn Eye Drops (Gentamicin) is an eye solution used to treat bacterial infections of the eye. It is especially effective when used to treat conjunctivitis or infections caused by injury. It is an aminoglycoside drug which works by impairing the bacteria`s ability to produce proteins, shortening the lifespan and inhibiting further growth. In addition to fighting the infection itself, the eye drop also directly alleviates symptoms which may be caused by the infection, such as irritation, itchiness, and inflammation.
Always use Genticyn Eye Drops (Gentamicin) as instructed by your physician. The following steps are provided as an example. Shake the bottle gently to mix the liquid solution. Tilt your head back while holding the eye you are treating open.
Using your spare hand, hold the eye dropper above the eye and squeeze out the prescribed number of drops. Immediately close your eyes and press gently on the inside corner of your eye to prevent the solution draining into your tear ducts. Always wash your hands before any after use.
