Doxinate (Doxylamine Succinate/Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) is indicated for the treatment and management of morning sickness in pregnant women. In some cases, morning sickness may lead to dehydration or malnutrition. This medicine combines an antihistamine ingredient (doxylamine) and vitamin B6 (also called pyridoxine) into a single tablet. Treatment with this medicine may help to provide relief from morning sickness.
Doxinate (Doxylamine Succinate/Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) must be taken exactly as your physician tells you to take it. These tablets are taken by mouth. Women are usually told by their physician to take 2 tablets at bedtime, as this will ensure that it begins to work in the morning. Some patients may be told to take one more tablet in the morning. This is to help manage vomiting occurring at midday. Another dose consisting of one tablet, taken in the afternoon may be prescribed, to prevent vomiting in the evening. It is important that all dosage instructions are strictly followed.
Taking Doxinate (Doxylamine Succinate/Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) can sometimes cause side effects, such as:
If you experience any side effects, tell your physician. There is a possibility that some patients may experience severe reactions. You must immediately see your physician if you notice seizures, urination difficulties, stomach pain or any other symptoms of a severe reaction.
Some patients treated with this medicine may experience drowsiness. Under no circumstances should you drive if this occurs.
Patients who wish to discontinue taking this medicine may be instructed by their physician to gradually reduce their dosage, so as to prevent a sudden return of vomiting and nausea.
