Clobetasol

Clobetasol (Clobetasol Propionate) is a topical corticosteroid which is of particular value when used in short courses for conditions which do not respond satisfactorily to less active steroids. It is used to reduce inflammation and to treat psoriasis and eczema. Clobetasol Propionate works by acting inside the skin cells to decrease the release of these inflammatory substances. This reduces swelling, redness and itching.

Clobetasol (Clobetasol Propionate) sparingly to the affected area once or twice daily until improvement occurs. Ask your doctor for instructions on how to properly apply it. You must not apply more than your doctor recommends, and it is also important that it is not used for longer than the recommended treatment period. Inform your doctor if no improvement in your symptoms is noticed after 2 weeks.

Side effects of Clobetasol (Clobetasol Propionate) include:

• Thinning of the skin
• Changes in skin pigmentation
• Stretch marks
• Inflammation of the hair follicles
• Skin discolouration at the application site
• Pimples or blisters visible on the skin
• Excessive hair growth

Clobetasol (Clobetasol Propionate) is not to be used on sore or infected skin.

You are advised not to cover the area of skin that has been treated with a bandage unless your doctor has instructed you to do so. This is because covering the skin may increase the amount of cream absorbed by the skin, which could lead to side effects.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Clobetasol (Clobetasol Propionate) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

Clobetasol (Clobetasol Propionate) may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
